PRP Spine Injections
Did you know back pain can be caused by several reasons? For conditions that have not improved with other forms of treatment, PRP Spinal Injections may be an option for treating conditions associated with the neck, mid-back and lower back. Patients with certain conditions may see improvement with PRP Spine Injections:
Degenerative Disc Disease
Simply put, degenerative disc disease refers to symptoms of back or neck pain caused by wear-and-tear on a spinal disc. In some cases, degenerative disc disease also causes weakness, numbness, and hot, shooting pains in the arms or legs (radicular pain).
Spondylosis
Spondylosis is an umbrella term for different forms of age-related degeneration of the spine. The bones of the spine are called the vertebrae. Between each pair of vertebrae, there are three joints. There is a joint in the front of the spine that is called an intervertebral disc.
Sacroiliac Joint Pain
Sacroiliac (SI) joint pain is felt in the low back and buttocks. The pain is caused by damage or injury to the joint between the spine and hip. Sacroiliac pain can mimic other conditions, such as a herniated disc or hip problem.
Facet Joint Pain
Facet joint syndrome is an arthritis-like condition of the spine that can be a significant source of back and neck pain. It is caused by degenerative changes to the joints between the spine bones. The cartilage inside the facet joint can break down and become inflamed, triggering pain signals in nearby nerve endings.
Regenerative Medicine & Biologics Institute is a leader — and one of the few clinics with expertise in regenerative spinal injections. In our office, we have all the tools necessary to give you the best possible outcome. We offer fluoroscope, ultrasound, and sedation to ensure comfort and precision.
PRP Therapy Technique
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy is a three-step process.
- Draw blood.
- Use machine (centrifuge) to spin the blood at a high speed to separate the red blood cells from the plasma (yellow fluid) that the red blood cells float in.
- Extract plasma so it can be injected.
The plasma contains platelets, which have over seven different growth factors to help stimulate soft tissue healing and decrease inflammation.
PPR spinal injections are recommended to patients suffering from chronic neck or back pain when treatments such as medications, physical therapy, chiropractic treatment and steroid injections have been unsuccessful to alleviate pain.
As PRP is obtained from your own blood, the risk of reaction is low. As with any injection, there is a small risk of injury to any structures in the area as well as a very small risk of infection. Since the patient’s own blood is used in platelet-rich plasma (PRP) spine injections, the procedure is very safe. There is no chance of an allergic reaction.
The entire process takes less than 15 minutes. Response to treatment will vary with each patient. Most patients will require 1-3 sets of PRP injections. Each set of treatments is spaced 4-6 weeks apart.
PRP spine injections are designed to increase strength and mobility. Within two weeks, patients should notice improvement, which increases as time goes on.

How many sessions of PRP do I need?
Most patients will require 1-3 sets of PRP injections. Each set of treatments is spaced 4-6 weeks apart.
When should I call a doctor?
Recent advances in PRP technology have made it possible for Regenerative Medicine & Biologics Institute to promote healing, reduce inflammation and speed recovery without surgery.
Without PRP, injured tissues are often unable to repair themselves because they lack adequate blood supply. By using PRP, RMB is able to provide the body with the enriched blood it would naturally produce to heal itself under normal circumstances. Don’t live with pain — contact us today.
