Meet the Physician
Kevin S. Smith, MD, is a graduate of Marshall University Medical School. He trained in anesthesiology at the University of Louisville Affiliated Hospitals with special emphasis in both cardiothoracic and pediatric anesthesia, and completed advanced clinical rotations in chronic pain management, obstetric and outpatient anesthesia, and neuroanesthesia.
Dr. Smith has been practicing since 1990, and practicing pain management in San Diego since 1991. In the last 14 years, he has served as President and CEO at Integrated Pain Specialists of Southern California, specializing in the care of patients in chronic and acute pain. He previously served as President and CEO at Interventional Pain Specialists of Southern California, and Chairman of Anesthesia Service Medical Group’s Pain Management Committee.
He is also a consultant, educator, and researcher at Medtronic—one of the world’s largest medical technology companies—researching and teaching medical fellows the indications for advanced therapeutic modalities including the most up-to-date implantable therapies for pain management.
Dr. Smith is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, North American Neuromodulation Society, California Medical Association, American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, Cellular Medicine Association and many other medical and pain management focused organizations.
He is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA) in anesthesiology, with a subspecialty certification in pain medicine.
